Palermo Talent Show Applications Due January 31, 2012
Talent Show and Tri-Tip Dinner is February 11, 2012 (Saturday)
Now's your chance to share your talent at the Palermo Community Council's 17th Annual Talent Show. Grand Prize is $100, with $50 1st Place Division Prizes, plus other prizes and awards. Entry fee is only $5.00 per person and anyone can join 5-years old and up.
The Entry Form and entry fee are due Friday, January 31, 2012 and should be mailed to: Palermo Community Council, P.O. Box 293, Palermo, CA 95968.
- Mandatory rehearsal is Friday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m.
- The event begins with a Tri-Tip Dinner fund raiser hosted by the Palermo Community Council.

Donate through the Annie B's Community Drive to Increase Your Impact!August 1 - September 30, 2011 is the best time to donate to the Palermo Community Council! Donations made from August 1 to September 3o will be proportionally matched by the North Valley Community Fund (NVCF). Funds raised for the Palermo Community Council will be used towards continuing the Palermo Community Festival and supporting facilitites (including utilities and insurance) for the Palermo south Butte County substation. This increases the safety for our community - including our children, homes, neighbors and local businesses.

The Palermo Community Council is looking for vendors, exhibitors, and car show participants for the Palermo Community Festival on September 10, 2011. Forms can be downloaded from http://www.palermocommunity.net/festival. Submissions are due August 26, 2010.
Vendors, individuals, and local businesses are invited to get a booth space at this event and connect with our community. Have a car or motorcycle you'd like to show off? Be a part of the Car Show. Questions can be forwarded to palermocommunity@yahoo.com or call (530) 534-6565.

Butte County Fire and Police Chiefs would like to challange Butte County teens ages 16-19 to apply to Butte County's 4th annual Fire And Safety Training camp. This camp is designed for teenagers who would like to participate in hands-on activities aimed at empowering and building confidence through personal experience.
Local firefighters and police officers will challenge, encourage, mentor, support, and guide campers through 6 days of team building, problem solving, and physical activities. Campers will be educated in fire safety, rescue, law enforcement and EMS skills. In addition campers will complete certification in CPR & Basic First Aid.

Palermo Wastewater Study - 2nd Community Workshop Feb. 17

The Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Palermo Community Association, with assistance from Lumos & Associates are starting the preparation of a preliminary engineering report to evaluate different alternatives for wastewater treatment and disposal for the Palermo Community. Depending on the findings, this report may be used to apply for funding for wastewater upgrades in the Palermo Community.
A second community workshop is being planned that will allow the community to participate in the preparation of the preliminary engineering report. Information regarding the community's preferred alternatives collected during the first community workshop on December 16, 2009 will also be reviewd.
This workshop is a very important step in providing a baseline for our community, we hope to see you there. More information is online at www.palermoprojects.com

Palermo residents will enjoy food, motors, music and fun Saturday during the 1st Annual Palermo Community Festival hosted by the Palermo Community Festival. The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast at Palermo Park from 7 a.m.-10 a.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children aged 7 to 11. Kids 6 and under are served free.Next the the festival goes into full swing at 10 a.m. beginning with a car show in the church lot adjacent to Palermo Park. It's not too late to join the car show! Registration the day of the event is only $15 and dash plaques will be provided. Prizes will be offered for best custom car, stock car, truck, import, and motorcyle. A Festival Favorite award will go the the vehicle with the most votes from the community the day of the event.In the Palermo Park, local bands will perform music while vendors sell crafts, food and other items. Bands performing include Christian Faith Center, Ted & Jimmy, Riverside String Band, Rick Gentry & the Aliens and Random Sparxx. Exhibits will include local fire engines and antique motors.Bring the kids and their swimsuits. The local 4-H club will host a Petting Zoo for the kids and there will be free swimming from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Palermo Pool.The Palermo Grange will hold bingo games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., ending just in time for the car show awards at the park at 2:30 p.m. Festival activities will end at 5 p.m.This year's fundraising focus is the Sheriff substation in Palermo. The substation is housed in the Palermo Community Council Hall and the facilities are completely supported by donations. Zoning Changes Coming to Palermo

The Palermo Fire Station has equipment to make reflective signs that post your address. Go by the Palermo Fire Station at 2290 Palermo Road (or the Palermo Post Office) to pick up an "Address Sign Order Form". For a donation of only $15, you can obtain a reflective address sign to post near your driveway or home.
